To mark the 91th anniversary of the death of English writer Vernon Lee, the Il Palmerino Cultural Association, based in the historic Villa Il Palmerino, is organising two unmissable events to remember and celebrate her literary and cultural legacy.
The artistic collective curated by Elisabeth Vermeer will bring to life the event Hortus Vitae, Vernon Lee's garden of thought, an experience that combines different forms of expression in a single, engaging day. The event will include installations, performances, dance, an exhibition of digitally enhanced photographs, music and readings of poetic and theatrical texts inspired by the work and figure of Vernon Lee.
The ArteStoria group of international artists participating in the event includes: Carlo Accerboni, Paola Bernini, Silvia Bibbo, Simona Campi, Salvio Capuano, Roberto Carloni, Clara Cullino, Antonio Di Pace, Debora Ferruzzi Caruso, Paola Leoni, Enza Lomonaco, Dania Marchesi, Malgoscia Mitka, Joanne Morgan, Françoise Morin, Mario Pepe, Mariangela Perrucci, Antonietta Preziuso, and Klára Várhelyi.
Eric Nicholson will recite excerpts from some of Vernon Lee's books in English:
Donatella Cheri will perform a piece by Bach on the transverse flute.
Lucia Rachini, Patrizia Loria, Milena Buzzoni and Nicoletta Manetti will read their poetry and prose.
Cri Eco will perform a spectacular live show.
Dance performance by Sylvia Zanotto.
The video installation is by Margherita Landi, a dance performance at the Evangelical Cemetery in Allori among the graves of Vernon Lee and Oriana Fallaci.
