Misson & Organisation

Il Palmerino Cultural Association was established on July 25, 2008 to honor and uphold the cultural heritage of this historic villa which dates back to the 15th century. From its early origins during the rise of the Medici family to the present day, this venerable place has been home to artists of all kinds, from the goldsmith Ottaviano Duccio and his sculptor brother Agostino Duccio, to Violet Paget, alias Vernon Lee, the British writer and intellectual. The artistic heritage of the place continued into the modern era, thanks to the villa's purchase by painters Federigo Angeli and his wife Lola Costa. The couple passed the estate onto their grandchildren, its current owners who continue to develop Il Palmerino as a vital centre of intercultural and interdisciplinary pursuits.

The Association strives to provide a showcase for works of the past that express Il Palmerino's cultural identity and to promote emergent intellectual and artistic pursuits today. Il Palmerino has been stage to a myriad of events and exhibitions in honor of international visual artists, writers, photographers, sculptors and musicians who have lived and worked in its artistic environment. With Florence as a backdrop, offering many events and opportunities related to the fields of History and Art, the association is well-placed to provide the link for cultural exchanges between its international guests and the Florentine community.
